Room for Prayer
Have YOU made room for prayer in your life? It really is an effective tool for making the point for your needs.
Please note, that we are talking about needs, not wants!
You have to appreciate that what you want, may well not be what you need, and what you need may be a long way away from what you want. By developing true awareness of what your soul is telling you, you will realise more where your true pathway lies.
The accepted symbol for prayer is clasped hands, but you do not need to do this to pray. Prayer can be done anywhere, at any time and without ritual.
So, how do you do this, how do you identify the difference between wants and needs?
This is not a lesson, but just so we all understand the absolute difference in these two words I’ll put them below.
Need - require (insist on) something in order to have success.
Want - fancy, would like, wish for.
As can be seen, need is a much stronger word and this is what you have to bear in mind when you are making a prayer. Prayers are for needs, not wants.
Have you ever noticed that you have sometimes been tempted to do something because it felt right, and then you thought about it for a while and you talked yourself out of it.
Well you initial feelings were right and you can miss out on something good because you didn’t trust them. Equally, if your feelings tell you that something isn’t right then step back from it and see why. You may think that it makes sense, but if your ‘gut feeling’ is different then think about it.
Prayers can bring help and solutions you need, but just be aware the answer may not be the one you would have chosen. Just have faith that these things are right for you and everything will start to flow a little better and life will improve.
Simple Rules for Prayer
God does not mind in the least if your prayers are simple and you don’t use fancy words. He needs to hear from you in your own words, from your heart.
Just be respectful, sincere and truthful.
This is also a chance to thank God for all His support in the past and for that support to continue, and for Him to be there for you.
You do not have to go to church to pray. You already have a direct link with God so use it!
Use this opportunity to share with God what is going right in your life, what is going wrong, the good and the bad, your hope, fears and joys. It’s between you and Him and no one else.
Avoid asking for specific solutions. You cannot possible see what the long term future holds and something that you specify now may be totally unsuitable for your long term future. God knows what is happening, let Him come up with the right answers, and then trust in them.
